Welcome Prof. Allan Tsung and Prof. James Fung to Serve as the Associate Editors of Hepatoma Research

We warmly welcome two outstanding young scholars of Prof. Allan Tsung, from the Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center, Columbus, United States and Prof. James Fung, from the University of Hong Kong, State Key Laboratory of Liver Research, Hong Kong, China, to take on the role of the Associate Editor to support the journal development.

Introduction:

Prof. Allan Tsung
Dr. Tsung is a surgical oncologist who specializes in the evaluation and management of patients with liver, bile duct and pancreatic cancer. As an expert in laparoscopic and robotic surgery techniques, his goal is to provide innovative treatments for helping patients to recover faster with less pain than traditional surgery. His current projects focus on novel mechanisms, strategies and therapeutics to reduce the morbidity and mortality outcomes of patients with hepatobiliary and pancreatic cancers, as well as health services research focusing on improving the access, delivery and quality of surgical oncology care. His long-term goal is to continue bringing bench-side research breakthroughs to bedside clinical therapies.
In addition to his role as director of the Division of Surgical Oncology at the OSUCCC-James, he holds the John L. Marakas Nationwide Insurance Enterprise Foundation Chair in Cancer Research and served as president of the Society of University Surgeons and hold additional leadership roles with the Society of Surgical Oncology, the Society of Asian Academic Surgeons, the Americas Hepato-Pancreato-Biliary Association and the American Association for the Study of Liver Diseases.

Prof. James Fung
Dr. James Fung is a consultant at the Department of Medicine, and a transplant hepatologist at the Liver Transplant Centre, Queen Mary Hospital, Hong Kong, China. His main research interests focus on viral hepatitis, liver fibrosis, advanced liver disease, hepatocellular carcinoma, and liver transplantation. He is also currently an Honorary Clinical Associate Professor of Medicine at the University of Hong Kong, and the Honorary Treasurer of the Hong Kong Association for the Study of Liver Diseases.
He was awarded the New Zealand Society of Gastroenterology Research Scholarship in 2005, Young Investigator Award at the Asian Pacific Association for the Study of the Liver in 2010, Young Investigator Award at the International Liver Transplant Society in 2012 and 2014, Distinguished Research Paper Award for Young Investigators by the Hong Kong College of Physicians in 2012, and the Distinguished Young Fellow Award by the Hong Kong Academy of Medicine in 2013. He has widely published many papers and is a regular speaker at both local and international meetings.

We confidently entrust Prof. Tsung and Prof. Fung to take up their responsibilities as the Associate Editors to ensure high-quality publications of the journal.
