Special Issue Introduction
Recent therapeutic advances have significantly improved the survival and quality of life for patients with liver cancer. As such, more patients having advanced disease may develop complications that require endoscopy such as variceal hemorrhage. Emerging treatment options delivered endoscopically, such as fecal microbiota transplantation for hepatic encephalopathy and beyond are also actively under research. Endoscopy will play an increasingly important role in the diagnosis, risk stratification, treatment and follow up of these patients. In this special issue, we explore advances in endoscopy and its interface with liver cancer and the potentially exciting developments that the future may hold.
